Per a report from MLB.com, the Philadelphia Phillies are making a push to acquire free agent outfielder B.J. Upton. Upton has spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Rays after debuting in 2004.
Although Upton has struggled the last few seasons with less than impressive batting averages, he would fill several key voids for the Phillies: an outfielder, a right handed bat with power, and a threat on the bases. Several other names have been thrown around as possible targets for the Phillies, such as Angel Pagan and Josh Hamilton, but Upton is reportedly their most realistic option.
B.J. Upton has visited with the Phillies and Braves thus far in free agency.
