Phillies have no fire

The way the Phillies have been playing lately, one would think it was the dog-days of summer where games don't have major implications. Can someone please tell the Phillies that they are in a pennant race, fighting for a spot in the playoffs. Except for Brett Myers, it doesn't seem like anyone cares. Nobody seems to be fired up. And what Cole Hamels pulled about a week ago was absolutely absurd. With the possibility of pitching on short rest, reporters asked Hamels if he would be available to toss the final game of a crucial three-game series with the division leading Mets. Hamels talked about not being sure if his arm would be ready and the fact that he already had pitched on short rest. Sorry Cole, not the correct response. A fiery Myers would have responded to the comment with a firm, "I want the ball." I find it hard to believe the Phillies are not showing much emotion, not showing a sense of urgency. Need they be reminded it is September and they are three games behind the Mets for the division lead and three games behind the Brewers for the wild card. Time to wake up Phillies and get some fire in you. You're going to need it if you want to play into October.
