With the Phillies knocking off the Diamondbacks Thursday night the Phillies were guaranteed to lower their magic number from 39. But when the Florida Marlins lost to the Houston Astros the number decreased one more time!The magic number for the Phillies is now 37, as represented by Phillies reliever Chad Durbin. The magic number will be interesting to watch this weekend as the Phillies travel up north to play the mediocre Mets while the Marlins and Braves battle in Atlanta. Both of those teams are tied for second place in the NL East heading into the weekend series.
