For 13 seasons, Jimmy Rollins has been a dynamic, game-changing, sure-handed shortstop and hitter atop the Philadelphia Phillies' lineup. But in the same 13 seasons, Rollins has countered his flashes of brilliance with lapses on the base paths, most notably not running out ground balls. Rollins didn't run out a ground ball out in the sixth inning of Wednesday afternoon's loss in Miami. Two innings later, he didn't make an attempt to break up a double play. On Thursday, prior to the Phillies' 7-4 loss in Milwaukee, Rollins met with manager Charlie Manuel regarding his lack of hustle. "We have two rules," Manuel told reporters in Milwaukee. "Hustle and be on time. We'll see. That's all I have to say. That's between Jimmy and me. I don't want it blown up real big. What I tell him is between him and (me). He should be running hard from now on. We'll see." Rollins admitted he should have run out the ball in the sixth inn...

Jimmy Rollins Doesn't Run Hard to First Base, Then Chirps Fan on Twitter After Game

Jimmy Rollins was in no rush to do anything in the top of the sixth inning on Wednesday, including running to first base on a ground ball. The Phililes shortstop had an interesting day, and it started in the sixth against the Marlins, a game that would eventually become yet another loss for Philadelphia. Rollins took his time getting to home plate for his at-bat against Mark Buehrle...

Losing and Character flaws, Rollins and Phillies walking to the end of the season

Jimmy Rollins, Philadelphia Phillies What can we learn from losing? Character for one and the 2012 Phillies are showing little. This current three game losing streak the Phillies have shown that a major shakeup will be needed to compete next season. Jimmy Rollins, who created plenty of talk radio buzz when he didn’t run out a ground ball is the perfect example of lack of character...

ERMAGHERD!  JIMMY ROLLINS DIDN'T RUN SO FAST He fessed up today: “I was just upset before I even got up there. I was already out of it. Mentally just upset.” This reminds me one time of back when I had a job.  I showed up at Caldor and my cat died.  So I walk in and my shirt was untucked and my manager Jimmy Nixon came to me and say, "Yo Jorge, what are you...

Record-Setting Night Highlighted by Solid Pitching

There was an awful lot going on in last night’s 1-0 Phillies win over the Marlins. And it all began with just the second pitch of the game which Jimmy Rollins sent screaming over the right field wall for the 41st lead-off homer of his career. That turned out to be the only run of the game, which was also a record-setting game for Rollins. He picked up his 1,731st game at shortstop...

Kendrick throws shutout, he owes it all to Charlie Manuel

Philadelphia Phillies Manger Charlie Manuel Charlie Manuel should he be in the Phillies plans for 2013? Previously I have written on this subject, stating that with all the youth possibly coming in 2013 that Manuel might not be the right manager. Since that time we have seen the Phillies on a small run, winning a few series’ with some youth in the lineup. Now I realize that this...

Lay Off Jimmy

You go to work every day, and you work hard. You try to do your best. Do you always have the same effort level? Every minute of every day? Yesterday, 97.5 in Philly, on their digital billboards, called out Jimmy Rollins for his perceived lack of effort running to first on a ground ball where he was way out the day before in Miami, in what was still a 3-2 game. Fans were none the...
