Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Hunter Pence used his Twitter account Tuesday to announce he has had successful sports hernia surgery.
"Hey everyone, been hanging around Philly," Pence wrote. "My surgery went well today and I'm feeling good." Pence was acquired at the trading deadline from the Houston Astros. He batted .324 with 11 homers and 35 RBI in 54 games after the deal and .314 with 22 homers and 97 RBI overall.
In the postseason, Pence was 4-for-19 with four RBI as the favored Phillies lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in five games in the National League Division Series.
Pence made $6.9 million this season and is eligible for arbitration in the offseason.
