Phillies add RHP Lindblom, OF Schierholtz

The Philadelphia Phillies have added right-hander reliever Josh Lindblom and outfielder Nate Schierholtz to the roster after obtaining both players in trades on Tuesday. Lindblom came from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the deal for Shane Victorino. Schierholtz was obtained from San Francisco along with catching prospect Tommy Joseph and right-hander Seth Rosin for Hunter Pence. Victorino...

Dodgers close to sending Lindblom and another to Philly for Victorino

Ugh. Best lede ever, right? Well, this is far from the best trade ever. I'm not upset the Dodgers are close to sending reliever Josh Lindblom and an unknown second player to the Phillies for Shane Victorino. I don't have time for instant analysis, but I'm not especially in favor of this deal. Victorino is a marginal upgrade at best and the Dodgers still need a big...

What you need to know about Josh Lindblom

The Phillies traded a good player and fan favorite in Shane Victorino, but they got two pitchers in exchange. The centerpiece of the deal was reliever Josh Lindblom, who could help in rebuilding a key part of the Phillies ballclub. Here's the scouting report on Lindblom.

SF Giants Rumors: Pence, Other Names Linked To Giants, And Schierholtz Update

Dennis O’Donnell of CBS 5  went on the air last night saying a source says the San Francisco Giants have acquired outfielder Hunter Pence.   The team has not confirmed this deal at this time. Which means the Giants could be close to landing Pence, or it could be some bad information passed by the source. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says the Giants have been tied to Pence, Aramis...

Schierholtz adds one homer to Rollins' two in Phils' win

WASHINGTON -- Nate Schierholtz wanted to do something that would impress his new teammates in his first game with the Philadelphia Phillies. Mission accomplished. Schierholtz made his debut with his new team a memorable one, hitting the tiebreaking homer in the fifth inning that gave Philadelphia a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night. Jimmy Rollins...

Nate Schierholtz Makes Phillies Debut as Vance Worley Looks To Give Phils Early Series Win Against Nationals

The Phillies may have traded two-thirds of their outfield yesterday after a dismal first-half of the season, resulting in a fire sale in the Phillie's front office, but they came right out of the gates last night and pounced on Stephen Strasburg to take game one of this three game set. After an 8-0 victory in game one, the Phils are looking to take the series away from the Nats...

Brown Starts in Left Field, Schierholtz Homers in Debut as Phillies Win, 3-2.

Final: Phillies 3, Nationals 2.  WP: Vance Worley (6-6, 3.63 ERA) LP: Edwin Jackson (6-7, 3.57 ERA) SV: Jonathan Papelbon (23) Newly acquired Nate Schierholtz and Josh Lindblom put on the red pinstripes for the first time Wednesday evening in the second game of the three-game series down in Washington. Schierholtz went 2-5 with 1 RBI. His home run in the 5th inning was the eventual...

Dodgers Trade Analysis: Josh Lindblom, Ethan Martin, PTBNL/Cash For Shane Victorino

As I wrote yesterday, the Dodgers acquired outfielder Shane Victorino from the Phillies in return for reliever Josh Lindblom, AA starter Ethan Martin, and either a player to be named later or cash. Shane Victorino is returning to the organization that drafted him in 1999. The Dodgers acquired Victorino from the Phillies today for starting

New Phillies Fitting in Fast

The newest additions to the Phillies after a few call-ups and trades are fitting in well with this team. In some ways, that is very good. In other ways, not so much. Here are a few 2012 Phillies bad habits exhibited in last night’s game against the Nationals that they will need to get out of quickly: - Kevin Fransden, a call-up, commited an error at 3rd base, becoming the 4th different...

Phillies 3, Nationals 2

Jimmy Rollins hit two solo home runs, Nate Schierholtz connected in his Philadelphia debut, and the Phillies received a sharp pitching performance from Vance Worley in a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night. After hitting the first pitch of the game to the warning track, Rollins homered in the third inning and again in the fifth. Both drives went into the...

Dodgers Close To Acquiring Shane Victorino

Jon Heyman is tweeting a deal is looking very likely. Jayson Stark is reporting that the Phillies are “close” to trading outfielder Shane Victorino to the Dodgers for right-hander Josh Lindblom and a second player. I told you so. Talks obviously accelerated after the Dodgers made Lindblom expendable by acquiring Brandon League from the Mariners last night. Victorino, an impending...

Power And Pitching Give Phils Win Over Nats

With his performance tonight, Vance Worley gave the Phillies exactly what they needed. (AP) Behind three solo home runs, including one from Nate Schierholtz, and a gutty pitching performance, the Phillies were able to grind out a 3-2 victory in Washington tonight. The win puts the Phils in position to sweep the first-place Nationals tomorrow with Cole Hamels on the mound. So far...

Giants Acquire Hunter Pence

After days of rumors and speculation, the Giants have finally acquired outfielder Hunter Pence. Heading to Philadelphia are Nate Schierholtz and a pair of prospects — Tommy Joseph and Seth Rosin. Hunter Pence, 29, is under team control through the end of 2013, but is set to make nearly $15M next season. More on this later…

What To Root For

From a 102 win season in 2011 to possibly a 90 loss campaign this year (.447 winning %) and with two of the team's starting outfielders traded away there doesn't seem much left to root for. Oh, but there is...1) Figuring out the bullpen. Papelbon is the closer, but what else do they have heading into 2013? Newly acquired Josh Lindblom is 25 years old and has posted a 2...
