The bad news for Phillies pitcher Michael Schwimer this spring came around March 20 when he was sent to team’s minor league camp. The good news: Schwimer recently locked up girlfriend and BC favorite Missy Coles to a long-term free agent deal via an engagement ring. What does this mean in the grand scheme of the WAG-dome? Not much other than the fact other ladies coming through the Phillies WAG pipeline must stay on top of their game.

Via Schwimer’s Facebook page:

True, the Schwimer/Coles relationship isn’t one that’s tearing up the gossip blogs, but we consider it an Internet first. Name another MLB/IFBB relationship. You can’t. Coles is an international fitness bikini model, which is a growing sport where women don’t have to get all bulked up like dudes. It combines the best of both worlds: implants and fitness.

Anyway, kudos to these kids for solidifying the relationship. All we need now is for Schwimer to get back to the big leagues. Do your thing, Schwim. Our pageviews are depending on you.

Thurston, Worley, Galvis, Utley & Hamels

*Phillies signed old buddy Joe Thurston to a minor league contract after his release from the Astros. Joe is 32 years old and plays 2nd and 3rd base as well as some LF. He'll add depth at Triple-A with the Phillies entire starting infield already injured or likely to be. In 7 MLB seasons he's played in 184 games and hit .226/.629. In other words, not very good. In 2006 he...

Luna Wins it vs Rays; Pierre Contract Picked Up

Juan Pierre is in.Let’s start with the big news: Juan Pierre is on the 40-man roster, officially, according to the Phillies (thanks to the beats down in Clearwater).Pierre being on the club does not preclude Scott Podsenik from being on the roster, as well. Phillies GM Benny Looper told us on 97.3 ESPN FM just minutes ago that both men could be on the team on opening day depending...

So Juan Pierre has made the Phillies

Juan Pierre evokes a lot of strong opinions from people. In an age of statistical data and the prominence of those who interpret that data, Pierre has often been the fodder of conversation. And thus, when he signed a minor league contract before the season with the Philadelphia Phillies, that conversation intensified. Now, he has made the team's opening day roster. Whoo boy....

Phillies Phlashback Phriday- Rader & Luzinski (Sold)

The Philadelphia Phillies we all know and love today are not the same penny-pinching cheap bastards of yesteryear. Ownership used to cut corners whenever and wherever they could. Selling players or trading them for "cash considerations" was common practice. Which leads me to today's flashback...March 30, 1980 - Dave Rader is sent to the Boston Red Sox for a player to...

Juan Pierre is Officially a Phillie

34 year old outfielder Juan Pierre’s contract was picked up by the Phillies today, guaranteeing him a spot on the opening day roster. The Phillies had to make a decision on Pierre by tomorrow, as Pierre was able to ask for his release if he was not put on the roster. Juan Pierre gives the Phillies some versatility and some speed off of the bench. Left field could be of particular...

VIDEO – Something to Make Phillies’ Fans Feel Good About

It’s been a pretty tough Spring for Phillies fans.  There hasn’t been much good news to talk about, and nationally and locally, people are proclaiming the Phillies amazing run of success at its end.  I’ve even felt that way myself.  There are definitely reasons to be concerned about this team.  Heading into a season without two of the team’s biggest stars is a huge obstacle...

Phillies Infield Grasping at Straws

After trading utility infielder Wilson Valdez for a minor league pitcher in January, things have gone steadily downhill since then. In an interview on 97.5 The Fanatic earlier this month, GM Ruben Amaro Jr. finally admitted that the Valdez trade was “foolish.” His exact quote was, “It was foolish to trade Wilson Valdez” and Amaro then admitted if he could go back in time...
