Final: Royals 9, Phillies 8. WP: James Shields (1-1, 3.75 ERA) LP: Cole Hamels (0-2, 10.97 ERA) SV: Kelvin Herrera (1) It nearly happened again. The Phillies in the ninth inning down 9 runs to 4 to come back within one run, but a Erik Kratz strikeout ended all home. Jimmy Rollins brought in three runs off his first home run of the season that inning, and Erik Kratz singled-in Ryan Howard to nearly complete the comeback. Cole Hamels has continued to struggle thus far, as he gave up a career-high eight runs this afternoon in just five and two-thirds innings pitched.  His opposition, James Shields, recieved the victory as he allowed four runs and ten hits in six innings of work.  Hamels picked up his second loss of the season. Billy Butler, first-baseman of the Kansas City Royals, was the Star of the Game, going 2-4 with 7 RBIs.  Four of his RBIs came off of a grand slam allowed by Cole Hamels in the top of the fifth inning.  The play was initialy called as a bases-clearing double, but was overturned after review to a home run. Roy Halladay will look to rebound from his shaky first outing tomorrow evening as the New York Mets come into town for a three-game series.  First pitch is 7:05 pm. Game Summary after the jump.
