Found March 09, 2013 on Phillies Nation:
According to Matt Gelb and Chris Branch, the Phillies have released non-roster invitee Joe Mather. Mather was among the worst part-time players in the Majors last year, hitting .209/.256/.324 in 243 PA, posting a Major League-worst -1.5 fWAR.  In our non-roster invitee preview, we stated Mather had no chance to make the team out of camp and no chance to see time with the team this season. No word on if he was released to pursue international opportunities.

Hooters ballgirl picks up fair ball, gives it to fan

A Hooters employee who served as a ballgirl at Saturday's Philadelphia Phillies game was pretty embarrassed after realizing that the ball she scooped up and gave to a fan was a fair ball that was still in play. On the bright side, the Hooters ballgirl made a young fan very happy when she tossed him the ball, so her heart was in the right place. Video via Telly.com. H/T BI...

Can Inciarte Stick With The Phillies?

Ender Inciarte entered Spring Training a few weeks ago as something of a forgotten man. Selected as a Rule 5 draftee from the Diamondbacks all the way back on December 6, Inciarte was the first player acquired by Ruben Amaro, Jr. this past offseason. Typically, a Rule 5 selection isn’t met with much fanfare to begin with. But the subsequent additions of Ben Revere–whose popularity...

Prospect Nation 2013: #3 RHP Ethan Martin

Acquired from the Dodgers in the trade that sent Shane Victorino to LA last summer, Ethan Martin quickly showed why he was regarded as a fast rising pitching prospect, as he helped the Double-A Reading Phillies reach the postseason and posted great numbers in a short period of time. Originally selected by Los Angeles in the 1st round (15th overall) in the 2008 amateur draft out of...

Phillies must improve defensively

Sabermetricians, take a deep breath: One of your favorite whipping boys actually thinks he can improve his defensive range at age 36. "Everyone tells me, 'You have no range,'" Phillies third baseman Michael Young says. "I'm like, 'That's not true. I move well. I have good feet. I have good hands.' So, something's amiss here." Young...

Bouncing Back: Roy Halladay

If there was a bounce back "team" this season it would be the Fightin’ Phils. They have more guys who underperformed or battled injuries in 2012 than you can shake a stick at. Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and new addition Michael Young come to mind. But the one guy whose bounce back season could be the key to winning for both the Phillies and your fantasy roster is Roy...

It's A Michael Martinez Kind Of Day As Phillies Head To Port Charlotte To Face The Rays

A Bright Future Assigned to Minor League Camp

The first wave of cuts in Phillies camp has come and gone. As it occured I found myself a bit more bullish on the Phillies' future than I was. Tommy Joseph, the finest position player prospect in the system, impressed offensively and defensively. He reminds me a lot of Mike...
