Yankees-Red Sox series are often more overhyped than any Radiohead album released after Kid A, but if you didn't enjoy the drama of this past weekend's series, you either 1) speak with a Boston accent or 2) are incapable of deriving any joy from baseball. As a non-partisan, I followed all four games with a little more interest than I usually do. I watched the final three innings of Friday's 15-inning classic on my iPhone in a bar — It's a live baseball game! It's in my hand! — just before dedicating my house-killing rendition of LFO's Summer Girls to the new King of New York, Alex Rodriguez. On Sunday, I listened to the late-inning drama on my car radio, thinking Victor Martinez might be the new Dave Roberts before hearing Yankee Stadium blast off on the strength of back-to-back shots from Johnny Damon and Mark Teixeira.All in all, a very memorable series, though I could have done without Teixeira carrying his bat to first base like it was some s...
