Does feeling a sense of relief when Ronny Cedeno singled to left on Tuesday night make me a bad baseball fan? Nothing against Arizona righty Yusmeiro Petit, but for a number of reasons, I wasn't quite feeling the no-hit bid he took into the eighth against the Pirates. That's not to say that I didn't turn the game on when I heard what Petit was doing.But a sad Pirates lineup (Ryan Doumit batting cleanup), bad crowd (though 11,294 might be big by PNC standards) and — let's face it — a bad pitcher (Petit was 1-5 with a 6.75 ERA coming into the night) dampened my enthusiasm considerably. I'm all for viewing history, but after watching Petit labor through a couple of walks, I knew it wasn't going to be a pretty finish. At the end of the night, Petit said he was content with his second straight victory and securing a spot in Arizona's rotation and that seemed like a real nice consolation prize.
