Pirates claim Brandon Jones

The Pirates claimed OF Brandon Jones from the Atlanta Braves earlier today. Jones will be placed on the 40-man roster. No corresponding move has been made yet, but someone will have to be removed.Jones, 26, had a decent season at AAA Gwinnett last season with a line of .281/.360/.419. His career totals during parts of three major league seasons are .257/.313/.365 in 148 AB. He does have one option left, so he can start the season in the minors.Jones was baseball's #70 prospect in 2008 and was ranked as the fourth best prospect in the Atlanta system that same season.I would not be surprised to see Jones get sent out in a trade pretty soon as the roster is pretty full and there simply is not much room for a guy like Jones. Nonetheless, it is a good pickup for the Bucs because Jones is definitely someone who could draw some interest from a couple teams.
