There’s no flash when it comes to Nick Swisher‘s numbers; he’s a 25-homer, 90-RBI guy who will contribute a ton in OBP leagues (career 13.3 BB%). If you’re looking to maximize Swisher’s skills then look no further than his L/R splits. Against right-handed pitching Swisher has a career 0.48 BB:K rate while it’s a nice 1.08 rate against lefties. However, where his plate discipline suffers his power gains as he has a career .228 ISO against righties and .171 against lefties. These types of splits can be useful especially in head-to-head leagues where you need a boost in a certain area at the end of the week. At a Glance Strengths: BB, OBP Neutral: R, HR, RBI, BA, SLG, OPS Weaknesses: SB, K Player Comparisons Best-case scenario: Corey Hart (MIL) Likely scenario: Josh Willingham (MIN), Logan Morrison (MIA), Jason Kubel (ARI) Worst-case scenario: Adam Dunn (CHW) Nick Swisher 2013 Fantasy Projection Swisher may be as charismatic as they come in the clubhouse, but his numbers are anything but that. That’s not a bad thing, either. Batting average aside, Swisher is a very consistent player and can be locked in for 80+ R and RBI along with 25 HR. He’s no help in the speed department and his batting average is .270 on a good year. He’s slated to bat cleanup for the Tribe and with Carlos Santana there to protect him he should have no trouble at least repeating his 2012 numbers. Swisher specializes in OBP leagues because you can replace his .260 batting average with a nice .370 OBP. Tweet
