The Mets defeated the University of Michigan by the score of 8-1 today at Tradition Field. For a full recap and box score, click here. Nelson Figueroa started for the Mets and pitched well in three innings, allowing just a run on two hits, while striking out five. The bullpen did an outstanding job against the University of Michigan today, going six innings, allowing just two hits. Hisanori Takahashi pitched two more innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two. The Mets had a big sixth inning, plating four thanks to an RBI double by Henry Blanco that scored Chris Carter and Daniel Murphy, and RBI singles from Alex Cintron and Alejandro Machado. The Mets would get two more runs in the eighth inning after another RBI single from Machado as well as an RBI single from Juan Lagares to score Mike Cervenak. Meanwhile, the Mets sent a squad to Kissimmee to take on the Astros, but that game was rained out after one inning. Jon Niese started for the Mets in Kissimm...
