Jonathan Niese started this game and made it through 3 innings.  Niese gave up 8 runs on 8 hits with 2 walks and 4 home runs.  Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia has 2 home runs tonight, both off Niese.  The Mets gave up a total of 5 home runs tonight in the loss.

David Wright went 1-3 tonight lowering his season average to .409.  His OBP is still over .500 but was lowered to .510.

The Blue Jays scored in all but 3 innings of the game, and put up crooked numbers in all the innings they scored.

There are hot streaks, then there’s what David Wright is doing

New York Mets third basemen David Wright is the talk of the MLB town right now and for good reason, he’s flat out raking.  The 29-year-old is leading the majors with a .411 average and is batting an unworldly .442 in the month of May. To be honest Wright’s as locked in as anyone I have seen in quite some time, I mean there are hot streaks then there’s what he and Josh Hamilton...

Mets need to make it right with Wright

Excuse us while we search high and low for the reason the Mets haven't yet offered David Wright a long-term contract. So far, we can't find it. Haven't the Wilpons learned their lesson from the Jose Reyes fiasco? Haven't they figured out that Wright, even more so than his former wingman, is essential to the franchise's legitimacy? The Wall Street Journal recently...

David Wright and Leadership

Even after last night’s disappointing lost to Cincinnati, the Mets are a surprising 20-17 on the season. Considering their lack of depth, the loss of Mike Pelfrey and the slow start by Ike Davis, this is a fantastic job by Terry Collins and company. I have been saying since before the season the Mets have three areas of examination this year, but none involve a certain win-loss...
