Game Notes
  • Carlos Beltran leads the majors with a .400 batting average, and has hit in 15 straight games. He has also reached base all 24 games for the Mets this season.
  • With his two-run home run last night, David Wright became the seventh players in Mets history to surpass the 500 RBI mark. The other six were Cleon Jones, Edgardo Alfonzo, Ed Kranepool, Howard Johnson, Mike Piazza, and Darryl Strawberry. Wright is still only 26 years old.
  • Johan Santana was named the NL pitcher of the month for April.
  • The Mets are going for their 300th all-time win against Atlanta tonight.
Last night's come from behind victory was fun to watch. I'm not going to lie, I thought it was over after the second inning. However, the guys fought back and never gave up, getting solid pitching from John Maine, Bobby Parnell, J.J. Putz, and Francisco Rodriguez past the second inning to close the books on a 6-4 win.

Tonight may not be the same, as the Braves have absolutely killed Hernandez throughout his career. The Mets, on the other hand, have never faced 33 year-old Kenshin Kawakami, who has struggled so far in his American debut. If the Mets can head back home on a winning note, they could very well see a four-game winning streak with the favorable pitching matchups against Philadelphia.

Of course, nothing is certain with this team.

Enjoy the game, and as always, Let's Go Mets!
