Found June 08, 2013 on More Hardball:
The New York Yankees have been pleasantly surprised by one of their relief pitchers this season, someone they weren't counting on being so reliable- rookie Preston Claiborne.  He made his MLB debut this season and has appeared in 13 games, spanning 18.1 innings.  His sparkling 0.49 ERA and 0.71 WHIP are something to behold, but it's his control that has been truly masterful.  Claiborne has yet to issue a walk.  You read that right, no bases on balls, no free passes, ZERO WALKS! The 25 year old right-hander was decent in the minors, but not nearly as remarkable as he's been in the Big Show.  Over 4 minor league seasons, he pitched 204.1 innings and issued 79 walks (3.5 BB per 9 IP).  However, the 17th round draft pick of 2010 has been pitch perfect out of the Yankees bullpen and will soon begin working high leverage innings with the more trust he gains from manager Joe Girardi.I wonder what the record for innings pitched without issuing a walk to being a MLB career is?

New York Yankees’ Ian Clarkin: When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong

I hate the L.A. Angels. There, I said it. Every single baseball fan has a team they will bleed for, and a team they wouldn’t  mind seeing be destroyed. I`m an Oakland Athletics fan, and I hope that every single Angels player contracts a severe case of tonsillitis that gets infected and is incurable. Obviously, I am not being serious nor am I sincere about such a wish. I am joking...

Obviously, it's not too soon to start pondering John's HR call for Eric Jagielo and Aaron Judge

The Yankees last night picked two college sluggers with their first picks. The reality is this: By the time either reaches the Show - if either does - the odds are pretty good that John Sterling will no longer be the Voice of the Yankees, driven by Jeep. He's on one-year contracts, and it seems every winter, the brass ponders an offer from ESPN. One of these years, well... But...

Preview: Yankees @ Mariners (6/09/13)

Brett Gardner went 3-for-5 on Saturday. He has now hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games since May 24, batting .328 (19-for-58) over that stretch. He also has scored at least one run in 16 of his last 23 starts, including six straight from May 24-29. Notes on the game: If the Mariners win tonight, it will be the first time since 2002 that they have won a series against the Yankees...

Yankees Game 61: Four-run fourth too much in loss

Kuroda’s four-run fourth inning was enough for the loss tonight. (Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images) New York Yankees 1 — Seattle Mariners 4   Kuroda’s struggle to finish the fourth is big in tonight’s 4-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners. For the Mariners, Jeremy Bonderman would make his second start of the season. A leadoff double by Brett Gardner and a walk of Robinson...

A high school pitcher taken by the New York Yankees in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft is apologizing for comments that barbed the team. Ian Clarkin was picked Thursday night. Right after being chosen, MLB Network showed a video in which the 18-year-old from California said he ''cannot stand'' the Yankees. On a conference call Friday, Clarkin...

Alex Rodriguez Hires The Same Lawyer That Got Ryan Braun Off

In a move that totally doesn’t make Arod look guilty, it’s been reported that he’s hired the same attorney who helped overturn Ryan Braun’s drug suspension. David Cornwell has joined Arod’s  ’Justice League’ of high powered lawyers, along with Jay Reisinger. The news was reported anonymously by someone with inside knowledge of the hiring, no public announcement...

Yankees 6, Mariners 1

Thanks to Phil Hughes, the New York Yankees could get away with only one inning of offense. What an inning it was. Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer and Mark Teixeira followed with a solo shot as part of New York's six-run third inning Thursday night, and Hughes took a shutout into the eighth for the Yankees in a 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners. Cano and Teixeira were...

Internal messages: Yankees charging media to use pictures

These emails were sent from the New York Yankees Media Relations Department to members of the media covering Yankees games at events at Yankee Stadium. The NY Yankees charged (and possibly still charge) the media $40-$50 for parking at some events they cover. Yes, charging the media to park when they cover, come and provide free publicity for the Yankees. Hold on, it gets even better...

Andy Pettite Wins His 250th. Is 250 the new 300?

40 and Winning Today, Andy Pettite had a day for the ages: he picked up his 250th career win on the same day that the team that has defined his career, the New York Yankees, drafted his son, Josh. By getting his team past the Mariners, Pettite raised his season record to 5-3, lowered his ERA to 3.82 and his WHIP to 1.26... which is to say, more or less his career levels. Now, it...
