Prior to this start, he made three appearances in Altoona, combining to give up three earned runs on seven hits in six innings, with a 7:0 K/BB ratio. Jason Townsend has now pitched 10.1 shutout innings in three Double-A appearances. In his last eight outings, Jeff Inman has given up one earned run in 13.1 innings, with a 13:0 K/BB ratio. Stefan Welch hit his fifth homer with Altoona.

Dilson Herrera hit his first homer with State College, giving the Spikes a 3-2 lead in the 8th inning. D.J. Crumlich hit his second homer of the year. In his last ten games he’s hitting for a .405/.450/.568 line in 37 at-bats.

The GCL Pirates won the Gulf Coast League championship.

The Pirates advanced to the DSL Championship. They will play the DSL Angels in a best of five series, which starts tomorrow.
