He had a 7.45 ERA in his first two starts at Altoona, then got hit hard in his AAA debut, before striking out eight over six innings in his second start for Indianapolis. Josh Harrison scored three runs and stole two bases, including a steal of home plate in the third inning. Jordy Mercer hit his first triple of the year and drove in his 14th run. Jose Contreras was promoted to Indianapolis today and pitched the eighth inning, giving up the only run for Lehigh Valley on a solo homer. Duke Welker pitched a scoreless ninth inning.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE   Lambo hit his third home run of the season tonight Box Score Result:  Erie 7, Altoona 3 Starting Pitcher: Casey Sadler, RHP (3-1, 2.79) – 4.0 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Andrew Lambo, 1B (.329) – 1-for-4, HR Other Notable Performers: Gift Ngoepe, SS (.150) – 1-for-4, 3B, RBI Matt Curry, LF (.257) – 1-for-3, RBI, BB Ethan Hollingsworth, RHP (4.85) – 3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 0 HR Game Notes: Casey Sadler had his first rough outing of the season, lasting just four innings and picking up his first loss. Ethan Hollingsworth followed him with three shutout innings, but then Nate Baker gave up two runs in his only inning and David Bromberg allowed another run in the ninth. Baker now has a 21.00 ERA in seven appearances, though this outing actually lowered his ERA.  Andrew Lambo hit the only home run of the day by Pirates minor leaguers. He has reached base in all 21 games this year. Carlos Paulino and Gift Ngoepe each hit their first triple of the season. No one in the lineup had more than one base hit.   A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS Box Score Result:  St Lucie 5, Bradenton 2 Starting Pitcher: Eliecer Navarro, LHP (0-4, 3.70) – 6.0 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 2 HR Top Hitter: Jacob Stallings, C (.224) – 2-for-2, 2B Other Notable Performers: Alen Hanson, SS (.266) – 1-for-4, 2B, RBI Jose Osuna, 1B (.267) – 1-for-3 Gregory Polanco, CF (.342) – 1-for-4 Game Notes: Navarro gave up three runs in a rough second inning, but was still able to give the Marauders six innings and keep them in the game. Robbie Kilcrease followed him and finished the game off, allowing one run over two innings. Gregory Polanco is hitting .429 in his last ten games, with a 1.043 OPS over that stretch. The bottom five in the order struck out a combined ten times tonight, led by Dan Gamache who K’d in all four AB’s. Willy Garcia has really struggled as of late, going 3-for-28 over his last seven games.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER Box Score Result:  Savannah 4, West Virginia 2 Starting Pitcher: Clay Holmes, RHP (1-2, 3.91) - 5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 0 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Raul Fortunato, CF (.286) – 2-for-4, Run, RBI, SB Other Notable Performers: Stetson Allie, DH (.353) – 1-for-4, 2B Josh Bell, RF (.270) – 0-for-4 Game Notes: Clay Holmes has had troubles throwing strikes all season, but before tonight, he allowed three or less hits in each of his last three starts. Holmes walked four batters and has now issued 19 free passes in 23 innings. Last year he gave up 29 walks in 59.1 innings. West Virginia managed just five hits and Stetson Allie’s double was the only extra-base hit. The top three in the lineup, Max Moroff, Walker Gourley and Josh Bell, went a combined 0-for-11.
