He has been nearly unhittable, but has also showed signs of the control problems that have plagued him these past two years in AAA, by walking three batters in each game. Jordy Mercer hit his first homer of the year and added two singles. Duke Welker threw two shutout innings for the win and Brandon Inge went 0-for-4, his fifth game(out of six) without a hit.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE  Lambo hit the first cycle in Curve history Box Score Result: Altoona 14, Akron 6 Starting Pitcher: Brandon Cumpton, RHP (0-1, 7.45) – 4.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Andrew Lambo, LF (.417) – 4-for-6, 2B, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, 4 Runs Other Notable Performers Mel Rojas Jr., CF (.276) – 4-for-6, 2B, 2 RBI Alex Dickerson, RF (.304) – 2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI, BB Tim Alderson, RHP (0.00) – 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR Matt Curry, 1B (.286) – 2-for-6, 2B, 2 RBI Game Notes: Andrew Lambo hit for the cycle, as Altoona broke out for 14 runs. It was the first ever cycle in the 15 year history of the Altoona Curve. Mel Rojas Jr and Lambo each had four hits, as the Curve pounded out 18 hits in the win. Brandon Cumpton had his second straight poor outing, but he was let off the hook by the Altoona bats. Tim Alderson picked up the win. Gift Ngoepe was finally able to pick up his first hit of the year, going 1-for-4, but he also struck out three times.   A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS Box Score Result: Charlotte 6, Bradenton 2 Starting Pitcher: Eliecer Navarro, LHP (0-2, 4.00) 6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Gregory Polanco, CF (.278) – 1-for-3, BB, SB Other Notable Performers: Alen Hanson, SS (.208) – 1-for-5, SB Jose Osuna, 1B (.188) – 1-for-4, 2B Zack Von Rosenberg, RHP (0-0, 3.38) 2.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 HR Game Notes: Bradenton lost their fifth straight game to open up the season. They had 12 strikeouts in the game and made four errors, including Alen Hanson’s 4th of the season. Both Polanco and Hanson each stole their third base of the season. Dan Gamache had the only RBI. Jose Osuna, Gamache and Chris Lashmet had the only extra base hits, all doubles. Eric Avila is 0-for-15 in four games, hasn’t reached base yet and has made three errors.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER Box Score Result: Charleston 10, West Virginia 7 in 11 innings Starting Pitcher: Joely Rodriguez, LHP (0-1, 5.00) – 4.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HR Top Hitter:  Stetson Allie, 1B (.346) – 4-for-6, 2 RBI Other Notable Performers Josh Bell, RF (.182) – 2-for-6, 2 2B, 2 RBI Dilson Herrera, 2B (.211) – 0-for-5, BB, 2 Runs Eric Wood, 3B (.318) – 4-for-5, 2B Game Notes: The Power lost despite 14 hits by their batters and 14 strikeouts by their pitchers. They were hurt by five errors, including two by Max Moroff, who now has six miscues in five games. Stetson Allie has reached base 12 times in his last four games after opening the year 0-for-8, with five strikeouts. Ryan Hafner allowed two runs in his three innings of work, but also struck out seven batters. Raul Fortunato hit his third triple of the season. Moroff added his first homer of the year, second as a pro.
