AA: ALTOONA CURVE    Box Score Result: Altoona 2, Bowie 0 Starting Pitcher: Jared Hughes, RHP (0.00) – 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Alex Dickerson, RF (.289) – 2-for-3, HR, SB Other Notable Performers: Nick Kingham, RHP (3-2, 2.84) – 6.1 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 0 HR Justin Howard, 1B (.329) – 2-for-3 Game Notes: Jared Hughes made a rehab appearance, and only needed 25 pitches to get through two shutout innings. Hughes struck out the side in the second inning. Nick Kingham was the original starter tonight, and came on after Hughes. Kingham threw 6.1 shutout innings. In his time in Altoona he has a 2.84 ERA in 38 innings, with a 32:11 K/BB ratio. Alex Dickerson hit his 12th homer of the year tonight, and had his fifth straight multi-hit game. He now has seven multi-hit games in his last eight games. He also has three homers in that span, and nine since the start of June.   A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS   Box Score Result: Bradenton 9, Clearwater 3 Starting Pitcher: Zack Dodson, LHP (2-7, 5.45) – 6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Alen Hanson, SS (.280) – 3-for-4, 3 RBI, SB Other Notable Performers: Oderman Rocha, RHP (0.00) – 3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 0 HR Dan Gamache, 2B (.277) – 2-for-4, 2B, BB Stetson Allie, 1B (.244) – 1-for-3, 2 BB Willy Garcia, RF (.248) – 1-for-3, HR, 4 RBI, BB Game Notes: Willy Garcia hit his 14th homer of the year, and his tenth since the start of June. Alen Hanson has struggled at the plate in July so far, but in his last three games he seems to be breaking out of it by going 6-for-17 with two doubles. Coming into this game, Stetson Allie had a .271/.386/.479 line in 48 at-bats in the month of July, with an 8:16 BB/K ratio. His strikeout rate is still high, but he is starting to hit for power, and is doing a good job drawing walks, with two more tonight. Oderman Rocha pitched three innings tonight after being promoted from the GCL. This is probably a short-term move. The Marauders had a double-header on Saturday, in which relief pitcher Pat Ludwig went five innings. They also promoted Ryan Beckman to Altoona today. And on Monday they went 19 innings, using Joan Montero for four innings and Zac Fuesser for three innings. So they just needed an arm today.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER   Box Score Result: West Virginia 8, Savannah 1 Starting Pitcher: Tyler Glasnow, RHP (6-2, 2.43) – 5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Barrett Barnes, CF (.267) – 3-for-5, 2B Other Notable Performers: Eric Wood, 3B (.241) – 2-for-5, 2B Jonathan Schwind, DH (.250) – 3-for-4 Game Notes: Tyler Glasnow now has a 2.43 ERA in 81.1 innings this year, along with a 115:46 K/BB ratio. His control was off tonight, but has been much improved lately, with 16 walks in 38.2 innings since the start of June (3.7 BB/9). Barrett Barnes had his second three hit night in the last three games. Prior to this game he had a .284/.347/.534 line in 88 at-bats since the SAL All-Star break. Everyone in the West Virginia lineup had a hit. Ryan Hafner and Bryton Trepagnier each pitched two shutout innings to close out the game.   A-: JAMESTOWN JAMMERS   Box Score Result: Connecticut 3, Jamestown 2 Starting Pitcher: Chad Kuhl, RHP (0-1, 1.20) – 5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Jeff Roy, LF (.309) – 1-for-2, BB, 2 SB Other Notable Performers: Jin-De Jhang, C (.328) – 1-for-4, RBI JaCoby Jones, CF (.302) – 1-for-4, SB Michael Fransoso, 2B (.326) – 1-for-3, BB Game Notes: Chad Kuhl gave up three runs in the third inning. That has been the only inning this season where he’s given up any runs. In 15 innings this year he has a 1.20 ERA and a 13:3 K/BB ratio. He’s a sinkerball pitcher, and tonight was his best night in that department, with a 6:1 GO/AO ratio. Jin-De Jhang now has a .328/.400/.507 line in 67 at-bats this year. Jeff Roy stole two bases tonight, giving him 14 on the year, which has been about a month long at this point.   RK: GCL PIRATES    Box Score Result: Pirates 4, Yankees 1 Starting Pitcher: Jon Sandfort, RHP (2-0, 2.25) – 5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Ulises Montilla, 2B (.328) – 3-for-5, RBI Other Notable Performers: Austin Meadows, CF (.179) – 1-for-3, 3B, BB Reese McGuire, C (.447) – 1-for-3 Game Notes: Jon Sandfort got back on track after giving up four runs in four innings in his last game. Sandfort now has a 2.25 ERA in 16 innings this year, with a 16:3 K/BB ratio. Other than his last start, his other three outings have all been shutouts, with six hits and no walks in 12 innings. Reese McGuire now has a hit in nine of his ten games, and has reached base safely in all ten of his games. Austin Meadows is starting to hear up, with a double and two triples in his last three games. Ulises Montilla has a .400/.476/.629 line in 35 at-bats in his last ten games.
