Yaseil Puig continues to be the victim of grand larceny in his first five weeks in the Major Leagues.  After being robbed of a spot on the All-Star Game earlier this week, the Los Angeles Dodgers sensation had an incredible throw and tag out of Bryce Harper taken away by the third base umpire's terrible call Friday night. Replays show Puig's 280-foot throw before the tag caught the speedy Harper on the foot before he touched third base on Jason Werth's long fly ball to Puig in right field. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly came out to argue that the play was so good, it merited being an out. Here's another angle:

WATCH: Bryce Harper gets hit by pitch in Home Run Derby

It was an eventful night for Bryce Harper, not only did the 20 year old make it to the finals of his first ever Home Run Derby, but he was also hit by a pitch in the process. Not to mention, the man pitching the balls to him was his very own father! Now in the Home Run Derby the balls are not coming in at 100 mph, much closer to 65-70 mph. Both Ron Harper (Bryce’s father) and Bryce...

"It sucks."

"It sucks." (Bryce Harper, via Washington Post, 7/19/2013) "That was frustrating." (Davey Johnson, via Nats Insider, 7/19/2013) "I don't know how he hit the ball." (Rafael Soriano on Andre Ethier's 9th inning HR, via Nationals.com, 7/19/2013) Dodgers 3, Nationals 2: Death, taxes, and no run support for Stephen Strasburg. Quick, someone...

Stick a Fork in the Nationals 2013 Season

My preseason World Series pick from the National League is done. Forget any magic number talk. Forget any ‘buyer’ move they make at the deadline because it won’t be good enough. Forget any hot, magical run they string together because no matter what they do from this night forward it will be too little, too late. This team is dead. For Davey Johnson, there will be no more pretty...

Nationals’ Ross Detwiler unlikely to make next start

Initially, the Washington Nationals hoped left-hander Ross Detwiler would be ready to be activated from the disabled list in time to make his scheduled start on Tuesday, but manager Davey Johnson told Tom Schad of MLB.com that he’s “not hopeful at this point” that it’s going to happen. Detwiler has been sidelined by a back strain since July 4. Johnson doesn’t...

Woman struck by foul ball at Nationals game

The netting behind home plate wasn't enough to protect a fan from a foul ball at a Washington Nationals game. A woman sitting on the front row was struck by a foul ball off the bat of Los Angeles Dodgers pinch hitter Jerry Hairston Jr. in the ninth inning Saturday night. The line drive went straight back and appeared to go through the netting. It hit the woman in the left hand...

Are the Washington Nationals in on Matt Garza?

photo provided by cbssports.com While the Washington Nationals starting pitching has been one of the few bright spots on the team this season, there is rumor of an unknown “mystery team” jumping in and trying to snag Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza. According to Gordon Wittenmeyer of the Chicago Sun-Times, that team is the Washington Nationals. Apparently though, the Washington...

Drunk blog continues

I have no idea what happened in the Yankiverse yesterday. None. Maybe Cashman stole Bryce Harper from the Nationals, or A-Rod has been promoted to Columbus. It's like being in outer space. I'm cut off. The Duke showed up last night, a day ahead of schedule. He came early because the Redsocks are in first. Smug SOB. Wore a brand new Redsock hat. I'm talking brand new....

Dodgers edge Strasburg, Nationals

Andre Ethier homered off Rafael Soriano to lead off the ninth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers resumed play after the All-Star break Friday night with a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Ethier pulled a 1-2 slider just over the wall in right-center, his sixth homer of the year and the second ninth-inning homer allowed by Soriano (1-2) in three appearances. Hanley Ramirez...

Yasiel Puig makes a great throw but doesn’t get the call

courtesy of riseandfired.com Bryce Harper can thank the umpire for the bad call made at third base because he was clearly tagged out when he attempted to advance from second on a Jason Werth flyball hit to right-field.  Harper was the latest victim to feel the wrath of Yasiel Puig’s canon of an arm.  Puig threw a rocket to third base and the tag was properly...

Nats Incompetent Offense Fuels Another Loss, Team Below .500

On a hot, muggy, sellout crowd night at Nationals Park, the Nats offense was once again incompetent behind strong Nats pitching. Gio Gonzalez struck out a career high 11 Dodgers on 98 pitches in six innings, but the bats were completely impotent with runners on base. With the loss, the Nats moved to a game below. 500 on a day when they could've made up ground on both the Braves...

GIF: Yasiel Puig shows off canon arm against Washington Nationals

Tweet   The tales of legendary feats performed by Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig aren’t stopping anytime soon. In the second inning of Friday’s game versus the Washington Nationals Puig put his rocket launcher of an arm on display yet again. Earlier this season we saw the 22-year old nail Atlanta Braves shortstop Andrelton [...]
