Albert Pujols has settled into his new locker at Angel Stadium, and his new teammates already think they're getting to know the superstar slugger pretty well. Now it's time for Pujols to formally introduce himself to his new fans. The three-time NL MVP will debut for the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night against the Kansas City Royals on opening day of the most anticipated season in franchise history. Ace Jered Weaver will be on the mound when the Angels get to work with Pujols in the middle of their lineup, bolstered by new catcher Chris Iannetta and converted third baseman Mark Trumbo. Pujols seems unaffected by the enormous expectations on his shoulders after accepting a $240 million contract from the Angels, a fashionable pick to win it all this fall.

Pujols signing a disaster for Angels

Albert Pujols is hitless (in large part due to the mastery of China-manian Bruce Chen) as an Angel and the St. Louis Cardinals are undefeated without their former MVP slugger.  This is the worst possible start to the season for those that are envious of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball franchise (see Cub fans), and the best possible outcome for goober* Cardinal enthusiast that...

More Notes - Cardinals Justified in Letting Pujols Walk?

The St. Louis Cardinals decided to let Albert Pujols walk in free agency and the move is paying off. The defending champions are off to a 2-0 start and their "great" first baseman is hitless in his new home.Ok maybe I'm jumping the gun a little. Pujols lined out in his first Angels at-bat, but you can sense his impact to the culture and atmosphere around the whole Angels...

Pujols' huge homer lifts Angels over Dodgers

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Albert Pujols put one more ball into orbit, just for good measure. Pujols hit a solo home run estimated at 441 feet with his final swing of spring training, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-3 Wednesday in their exhibition wrapup. Signed as a free agent, Pujols hit seven homers this spring, along with 20 RBIs and a .383 average. Mark...

Angels look awesome; Albert just bonus

Clearly, the Angels don't need Albert Pujols. I mean it. They don't. They didn't need him in December, either, when Arte Moreno handed him a $240 million contract. Pujols went 0-for-3 in his first game without the famous redbirds on his jersey. In his first plate appearance, he lined into an inning-ending double play. In his second, he popped out to third. In his third...

Angels win despite Pujols' quiet debut

Jered Weaver struck out 10 in eight dominant innings of four-hit ball, Peter Bourjos' bases-loaded infield single broke open a scoreless game in the eighth inning, and the Los Angeles Angels won Albert Pujols' hitless debut, 5-0 over the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. Erick Aybar put a bases-loaded triple down the right field line moments after two Kansas City infielders...

5 Things To Look For Today Against The Angels

With the Royals first game of the season today, here is five things to look for against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. 1.  How well does Albert Pujols play for his new team? The former Cardinals slugger signed a 10 year, 240 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels back in late 2011. Albert Pujols has a lot to live up to with a contract that big. So far he is tearing up spring...

MLB Is In Full Swing This Week

FOX Sport's first full week of Major League Baseball coverage is scheduled this week highlighted by a live, prime time Saturday telecast of the Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees. There hasn't been this much buzz in Anaheim in a long time and the arrival of super slugger Albert Pujols is just part of the excitement. The Angels also bolstered their rotation by plucking...

Organizational Rankings: #6 — St. Louis

2012 Outlook – 60 (8th) One down, 161 to go, right? I think the assumption around baseball was if Albert Pujols left the Cardinals, he would leave a husk of a team behind him. If his teammates didn’t prove their worth enough throughout their playoff run in 2011, they’ll get ample chance to do so in 2012. They should be up to the challenge, as this roster was especially well...

Orioles Face Twins Tonight, Dylan Bundy, Albert Pujols and Jamie Moyer

Tonight, the Baltimore Orioles play their second game of the season as they face the Minnesota Twins at 7:05 p.m. This is the second contest in a three-game set. Right-hander Tommy Hunter squares off against southpaw Francisco Liriano on the mound. Hunter, who came into this season slimmer and more fit is looking to establish himself as the number two starter. Much like with...

Three To Watch: Final Opener Is Royals and Angels

Opening Day has come and gone for almost every team in baseball.  But when you play on the West Coast, you get the distinction of being the last.  The Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will take the field as the final two teams to open 2012. After you take that afternoon nap to ensure that you will be awake for the entire late night affair, kick back and read...

Faces change, stakes the same for Brewers, Cards

During the run-up to last year's NL championship series, the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers openly acknowledged something most people already knew: The two division rivals didn't like each other very much. The Cardinals went on to earn ultimate bragging rights in one of baseball's most spirited rivalries last season, knocking the Brewers out of the playoffs...

The Top Five for 2012

Seeing that the season is here and the top five players are almost consensus top five players, I decided to combine the top 5 into one post. Key Stats: Jose Bautista has 97 home runs in the last two seasons. That is 18 more than the next best player in baseball (Albert Pujols). He retains third base eligibility in most leagues this season and he added batting average to his repertoire...

Game Recap 4/6/12: Weave's Steadying Hand - Angels 5, Royals 0

There is a lot of hoople and hyperbole that surrounds Opening Day that, by the third inning, usually fades into the background. Players feed off the initial adrenaline before collapsing back into the routine of the game. Tonight this effect was on full display. Some things were new. Albert Pujols got a huge ovation then went out and put up an 0-3 with an intentional walk. Vernon...

A Real Game Tonight

The Cardinals begin defense of their championship tonight by helping the newly named Miami Marlins open their new stadium. Kyle Lohse gets the ball for the Cardinals while Josh Johnson goes for the Marlins. The Cardinals also play their first game in a decade without Albert Pujols on the roster. Despite that loss, the projections [...]
