Found September 18, 2012 on Fox Sports West:
Angels slugger Albert Pujols is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday nights game in Anaheim against the Texas Rangers because he remained in the Midwest to be with his wife, Deidre, who delivered the couples fifth child in a Kansas City-area hospital early Sunday morning. Pujols, who is hitting .282 with 30 home runs and a team-leading 96 runs batted in, played in Sundays game against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium despite being up all night with Deidre, who delivered a daughter, Esther Grace, at 3:30 a.m. The first baseman doubled once in four at-bats in the Angels 4-3 win. Pujols did not accompany the team on Sunday nights charter flight back to Southern California, and the Angels were off on Monday. It was not known Tuesday whether Pujols was in the Kansas City area, where his wife is from, or St. Louis, where the couple lives. Pujols loss leaves a significant hole in the middle of the lineup as the Angels, who are fighting for a playoff spot, open a big series against the A...

Angels OF Vernon Wells falls over outfield wall trying to catch home run (Video)

Los Angeles Angels left fielder Vernon Wells went head over heels over the outfield wall, but failed to catch a home run ball hit by Texas Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler during Tuesday night's MLB game at Anaheim. It happened in the top of the third inning as Kinsler hit the ball to deep left field. Wells timed his jump well, but realized he had no chance as the ball reached the...

Little things are very costly for the Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. In the closing weeks of the season, with a playoff spot on the line, little things can make a big difference. One mistake can cost a game. One base-running error can stop a big inning. One loss can sink a season. The Angels spent Wednesday night lamenting all the little things that went wrong against the Texas Rangers. They lost a game, lost a day in their season...

Vernon Wells Jumps Over Left Field Wall, Tumbles into the Stands (Video)

Vernon Wells earned hustle points. But that's about it. In the third inning of Tuesday's game against the Rangers, the Angels outfielder aggressively chased Ian Kinsler's fly ball and leaped into the left-field stands, hoping to make a spectacular catch. But Kinsler's blast ultimately cleared the wall, resulting in an embarrassing tumble for Wells. Wells then needed...

Vernon Wells jumps over wall chasing home run

In a hilarious attempt to make what would have been an unbelievable play, Angels outfielder Vernon Wells went head first over the outfield wall. The Angels are trying to get back into the wild card race and efforts like this is what manager Mike Scioscia has to love. I have a feeling this will be on all the bloopers videos of the 2012 MLB season. Check it out! The post Vernon Wells...

Angels brace for rough stretch of schedule

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Dan Haren channeled his inner Yogi Berra following Sunday's game. "If we make the playoffs, we deserve it," Haren said. "If we don't, we don't deserve it." It's not that simple, actually. The Angels have played well over the past month, winning 18 of their past 25 games. But that surge has only marginally improved...

Game Recap 9/18/12: Fantastico - Angels 11 Rangers 3

This is perfect. On so many levels. If only those trolltastic Mariners would just end it against the Orioles. The Angels need to pick this game up on the Orioles fast, the schedule doesn't get much easier for a while so if the Angels are serious about making the playoffs they'll smash through the Rangers. Good start so far.  I really didn't think the Angels...

Texas within reach of AL West title in tight race

(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By STEPHEN HAWKINS AP Sports Writer Another division title is within reach for the two-time defending American League champion Texas Rangers. The Rangers (87-59) have the AL's best record. But they are still in a tight division race, with the A's the closest chaser instead of the expected Los Angeles Angels. Texas had its last regular season...
