What did Indians fans think of the club's trade deadline deals (trading Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez)?
I certainly don't speak for Indians fans, but I can offer my opinion on the two trades. Perhaps it mirrors the opinions of some Indians fans, but that's all I'm promising.
Cliff Lee was not likely going to sign with the Indians after the 2010 season. The Indians' main chance to lock him up past then was before the beginning of this season, and when they couldn't do it, it was a given that he was signing with someone else after next season. As long as the Indians were competitive, though, it made sense to keep him, for his existing contract was extremely affordable.
