The second opinion that Atlanta Braves utility infielder Ramiro Pena sought Wednesday, unfortunately said the same thing. Pena has a torn labrum and will undergo season-ending surgery. The announcement was made after Wednesday’s 4-3 loss to the Royals in Kansas City. There has not been a timetable given as to when the surgery will take place and what facility or doctor will do the procedure. The Braves continue to have injury problems this season. Lefty relievers Jonny Venters and Eric O’Flaherty are done for the season, starter Brandon Beachy has yet to appear in a game as he battles back from Tommy John surgery and Evan Gattis remains on the disabled list with a right oblique strain. Freddie Freeman, Brian McCann and Jason Heyward have also spent time on the disabled list this season. Outfielder Jordan Schafer fouled a ball off his left ankle in Wednesday’s game against the Kansas City and was limping noticeably in the outfield afterward. Fortunately, tests after the game were negative, according to Braves manager, Fredi Gonzalez. The post Ramiro Pena Will Have Season Ending Surgery appeared first on Atlanta Bullpen.
