ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels wouldn't get into specifics about anyone the Ranger may or may not have signed Tuesday on the first day of the international signing period. But if the reports of the four signings the Rangers have made are true, they don't seem too concerned about their 1.94 million pool to sign players. According to various reports, the club is giving outfielder Jose Almonte a 1.8 million bonus, shortstop Yeyson Yrizarri 1.35 million and right-hander Marcos Diplan 1.3 million. The club has also agreed to a deal with shortstop Michael de Leon. Daniels said he won't talk about particular players because no deals have been finalized. He did make it clear that management supports the team's international efforts despite the fact that they are taxed on money they spend over their allotted money and they can also be limited on the amount of money they can spend next year. "From an organizational standpoint, No. 1 ownership continues to support baseball operations in really every way possible," Daniels said. "They've got vision, our ownership. They've got big-picture vision and want to build a long-term winner. They've given us the resources when we've asked for them to go out and invest in our infrastructure." The current Rangers are proof of how important the July 2 signing period can be. Elvis Andrus was signed during this period by Atlanta and Adrian Beltre was a July signing by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Engel Beltre and Martin Perez were also July signees. While Daniels wouldn't confirm who the Rangers signed, he did say the team did not make any trades or deals to extra money in their pool to sign players.
