The Texas Rangers are making changes to Rangers Ballpark for the third offseason in a row, this time adding an additional row of seats behind home plate and increasing the size of the dugouts.
Team officials announced the $12 million project Tuesday.
Along the extra seats and dugout space, extensive renovations will be made the private club and concessions areas behind home plate. There will be a new retail store and new concession stands on the main concourse.
Demolition work began last week, and the projects are scheduled to be completed before the 2013 home opener April 5 against the Los Angeles Angels. With the work done the last two offseason, the Rangers have spent about $35 million on ballpark improvements and upgrades.
