ARLINGTON, Texas There's been a playoff atmosphere at Rangers Ballpark, and it's not just because the Rangers have been playing the Yankees and Rays. Saturday's game marked the fifth consecutive sellout, a new club record. Sunday night's series finale with the Rays is also a guaranteed sellout, which will stretch the streak to six games the entire homestand. A season-high crowd of 49,197 showed up Saturday for Adrian Beltre Bobblehead Night, but the crowds have been showing up for more than just bobbleheads. And the players notice the support. "Of course they do," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "Listen to the noise. It's like we're in the playoffs. And they're into the game. And they've been staying until the game is over, whether we're winning or losing. I don't see people vacating the stadium, they're staying." After Sunday's game, the Rangers will have eight sellouts on the season. Last year they had ...

Rangers slugger Hamilton leaves with stiff back

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton left Sunday night's game against Tampa Bay with stiffness in his back. Hamilton, the American League's home run leader with nine, is day-to-day. He got his AL-leading 25th RBI on a single to center field in the first inning, scoring Elvis Andrus. In the same inning, Hamilton, who also leads the league in total bases and slugging percentage...

Hamilton had an RBI single in the first inning, and he is hitting .395 with nine home runs and 25 RBIs this season. Hamilton was replaced in left field by David Murphy.

Texas dad: Not 'as bad as it looked'

The father of a little boy who broke down at a Texas Rangers game after not getting a foul ball said the couple who got the souvenir has been unfairly demonized. Kyle Shores' three-year-old son, Cameron, had his heart set on the ball tossed to the crowd by Rangers first basemen Mitch Moreland during Wednesday's game against the Yankees. When Sean Leonard, who was sitting...

Rangers rebound for 7-2 victory

Apparently you can beat the Rangers, but you can’t keep them down. After last night’s ugliest of games, the boys bounced back with a pretty dominating win tonight.  They got on the board in the 1st with two runs on a single by Josh Hamilton …. and they never looked back. Colby Lewis was a huge part of tonight’s win.  Maybe the biggest part.  He pitched six solid innings...

Lewis, Hamilton lead Rangers to win over Rays

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Colby Lewis allowed one run in six innings, Josh Hamilton had a two-run single and the Texas Rangers snapped Tampa Bay's six-game winning streak, beating the Rays 7-2 Saturday night. Lewis (3-0) allowed three hits and three walks to improve to 4-0 in his career against the Rays. Tampa Bay's only scoring off Lewis came on Matt Joyce's second-inning...

Sloppy infield defense, bad baserunning costly in 8-4 loss

I’ve gotten spoiled by the Rangers. There haven’t been too many ugly games.  Ugly innings, sure, but not ugly games. Tonight was an ugly game. Bad pitching, bad defense, bad baserunning, wasted offensive opportunities.  This game had all of that. Matt Harrison got off to a rough start.  An error by Ian Kinsler in the 1st inning ended up costing three Rays runs. And Harrison...

Rangers 7, Rays 2

Colby Lewis allowed one run in six innings, Josh Hamilton had a two-run single and the Texas Rangers snapped Tampa Bay's six-game winning streak, beating the Rays 7-2 Saturday night. Rangers-Blue Jays Preview

So far, Yu Darvish is living up to the hype. The Texas Rangers may need him to continue doing that, especially if Josh Hamilton needs to miss any time. With Hamilton's status uncertain, Darvish looks for another dominant performance Monday night as the Rangers open a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. Texas (16-6) acquired Darvish (3-0, 2.42...

Rangers drop first series of the season

Ron Washington’s 60th birthday will probably not be described as a happy one.  The Japanese media treated him to a cake this afternoon, but then Joe Maddon and the Rays handed the Rangers their first series loss of the season.  And their first regular season series loss since last August. Derek Holland had a fantastic 1st inning and even got a run of support right away. But then...

Offense explodes for Rays in win vs. Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Evan Longoria homered and drove in four runs to help the Tampa Bay Rays extend their winning streak to six games with an 8-4 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night. Longoria hit a three-run homer in the first inning and added an RBI single in the fourth for the Rays, who had a season-high 16 hits in support of starter James Shields (4-0). The Tampa...

Series Spotlight: Rays at Rangers (April 27-29)

Each of these two teams is at the top of their division (the Rays are tied with Baltimore, which is shocking), while the Rangers one up the Rays by holding the best record in baseball at 15-4, and already have a +55 run differential. The Rangers look like the class of baseball right now, while the Rays....are actually struggling a little bit, but still taking advantage of a division...
