MLB Injury News:
The Texas Rangers placed right-handed starting pitcher Matt
Harrison on the 15-day disabled with a lower back strain last week. Yesterday,
general manager Jon Daniels told reporters – including Anthony Andro of FOX
Sports Southwest – that Harrison requires back surgery to repair a herniated
disc, a procedure that carries with it an estimated recovery of two to three

Rangers Matt Harrison said timetable he's heard for recovery is 2 1/2 to 3 months.

Harrison was the Rangers’ Opening Day starter, as he was
just coming of a five-year, $55 million contract extension he signed with the
team in January. He was recently sidelined by back discomfort, and Andro notes
that specifically the right-hander’s L5-S1 is the disc that’s bothering him.
For those – like me – that this combination of letters and numbers means
nothing to, it’s a disc in his lower back.
This is certainly a tough blow to the Rangers, but the team
has continued to say that it will likely not look outside the organization for
pitching help. It’s already had to call on rookie Nick Tepesch to takeover a
spot in the rotation, but Texas does have a trio of arms – including Colby
Lewis, Neftali Feliz and Martin Perez – rehabbing from injuries.

The Texas Rangers had to be a little concerned about their new ace pitcher Yu Darvish going through a sophomore slump. It may sound like a silly superstition, but it must happen-- otherwise there would not be a name for it!
With four starts under his belt this season it may be a little early to call it, but I think it is safe to say that Yu is having far from a sophomore slump...

MLB News: Julio Borbon was claimed off of the waiver wire by the Chicago Cubs from the Texas Rangers Friday. Spending his whole career in the Texas system, Borbon has a solid glove, but very little power and while he possesses very nice speed, his knowledge of the art of running has a few holes in it. There have been plenty of gems that were found on the waivers after being cast...
I almost didn’t write a post about tonight’s game. My evening started when I was rear-ended leaving work. I’m fine, but the car needs work. Not fun. And then I got home, hoping to settle in with a beer and baseball, but my MLB.tv kept buffering and I could not find an opener for my beer (moving problems). After some frustration-born tears, I opened the beer with a...
