The epidemic of injuries that has hit the Texas Rangers in recent weeks had been contained to the pitching staff. Until Tuesday. First baseman Mitch Moreland felt his left hamstring "grab pretty good," as he leaned forward to try to beat out the back end of a bases-loaded, inning-ending double play in the second inning Tuesday in the Rangers' 7-3 win over the San Diego Padres. Moreland left the game immediately, and he will undergo an MRI exam Wednesday. Rangers officials are braced for the test to confirm a strain of the hamstring that will require a disabled-list stay. General manager Jon Daniels said, however, the team won't bring a player to San Diego on Wednesday in anticipation of a DL move. Any move would be made before the start of the upcoming homestand on Friday. The Rangers won't try to get too creative to fill the first base spot while Moreland is out. They can use a combination of Michael Young, who replaced Moreland on Tuesday, Mike Napoli...

Rangers broadcaster speaks nonsensically

Texas Rangers broadcaster Dave Barnett lost his mind Monday night during the Rangers vs. Padres game in San Diego. During the eighth inning, Barnett said the "go-ahead run is at fifth" even though there is no such thing as a fifth base in baseball. Barnett proceeded to then talk about a "botched robbery" and "henchmen."Barnett sounded like a man drunk...

Roy Oswalt to Make Rangers Debut Friday

The Texas Rangers announced that Roy Oswalt will make his debut for the club on Friday against the Rockies. Oswalt, an eleven year veteran with a career 3.21 ERA and 7.3 SO.9 rate, has been mediocre at best in the Rangers minor league system. He went 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA over four starts since joining the club as a free agent. One would assume that the Rangers would prefer to give...

Justin Grimm (credits below) SP- JUSTIN GRIMM (TEXAS)- The Rangers have a gem in the making here with Grimm. Justin made his major league debut Sunday as he earned a win and struck out seven batters. Texas has stated that Grimm is one of their top prospects as he has posted a 1.87 E.R.A. in 77 innings at the AA level. Just how the Rangers decide to use him will be the question here...

Murphy, Harrison lead Rangers past Padres

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Left-hander Matt Harrison won his fifth straight decision and David Murphy's two-run single in the first inning held up as the Texas Rangers beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 Monday night for their fourth straight victory. Harrison (9-3) tied CC Sabathia and Ivan Nova of the New York Yankees for the AL lead in victories. Harrison allowed one run and six hits in...

Feldman earns first win in San Diego

Before the game, Mark McLemore picked Scott Feldman as his “player to watch.”  I was already feeling wary about Feldman’s start (his last few have been horrendous), and this only made me more nervous.  As I’ve mentioned on here before, Feldman is one of my favorite players.  I don’t know why.  He just is.  His rough outings have been as hard on me as they were on him...

Darvish leads Rangers to 6th straight win

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Yu Darvish settled down to hold San Diego to five hits over eight innings and got his first major league hit to help the Texas Rangers beat the San Diego Padres 4-2 on Wednesday for their sixth straight win. The True Red and Blue: Kiley

Time again for another fan profile.  I’ve really enjoyed doing these.  Reading the answers is so much fun and really allows me to get better acquainted with my favorite baseball people.  Today’s subject is certainly in that category.  She is a true fan of the game, possibly a bigger fan than I am as she has enough heart for more than one team.  I just don’t have that in...

Daily Friar 6.20.12

When the Rangers were rolling into town I knew it wasn't going to be easy grabbing a win. Although the first game of the series we almost did give them a loss. But of course the lack of offense was prevalent. Then last night was just another slaughter. I guess this is just the status quo for this team. And no one seems to really care either way. Buddy always has something nice...
