The Texas Rangers have offered salary arbitration to free agent left-hander C.J. Wilson.
The move frees up the Rangers to pick up two compensatory picks should Wilson, a Type A free agent, sign with another team.
Wilson has until next Wednesday at 11 p.m. to accept or decline the team's offer.
Texas did not offer arbitration to Darren Oliver, Michael Gonzalez, Brandon Webb, Matt Treanor or Endy Chavez. Oliver is a Type A player who will be treated as a Type B player as a result of the new collective bargaining agreement. If Oliver signs with another team, the Rangers would receive compensation.
Oliver has indicated he would like to play again in 2012.
Treanor has already signed a contract for 2012 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
