The Texas Rangers avoided arbitration with right-hander Neftali Feliz, agreeing to a one-year deal with the right-hander.
According to a source, Feliz will get 2.9 million plus incentives in 2013.
Feliz is coming off Tommy John surgery and isnt expected to be ready to pitch for Texas until after the All-Star break.
Feliz, who will be at Rangers Ballpark Friday for a pitching camp, was 3-1 with a 3.16 ERA for Texas in 2012 while making the transition from closer to starter. He was the first Texas player to go on the disabled list when he went down May 19 with right elbow inflammation. He had surgery on Aug. 1.
Feliz was the Texas closer in 2010 and 2011, picking up 72 saves and earning American League rookie of the year honors in 2010.
With Feliz in the fold, the only Texas player still eligible for arbitration is outfielder David Murphy. The Rangers havent had a player go to an arbitration hearing since Lee Stevens in 2000.
