Rangers Release Vicente Padilla

The Texas Rangers requested outright release waivers on starter Vicente Padilla according to Ken Rosenthal. The move came after Padilla hit Mark Teixeira twice in yesterday's game in New York. Update: Apparently the team is also optioning ex-Angel prospect Warner Madrigal to AAA Oklahoma City. (Via Lone Star Ball.) Further, if Padilla passes through waivers, the Rangers retain rights to his contract, and the team could send him to AAA, else he becomes a free agent.
