Two notes of interest to pass along tonight.
First, according to multiple reports, Josh Hamilton’s father-in-law, Michael Dean Chadwick, has decided not to serve as Ham
This weekend at Rangers Fan Fest, Ron Washington dropped a bombshell when he said, in January, that Colby Lewis will be his Opening Day starter on April 6 when the Chicago White Sox open the 2012 season at Rangers Ballpark.
And that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
Even if the Rangers sign Japanese import Yu Darvish, which is totally expected to happen, Lewis has earned his...
It’s official. Yu Darvish is a Texas Ranger. [Insert fist pump here] His agents and Rangers’ brass came to terms on a six year deal, worth $60 million. This, plus the $51.7 million posting fee the Rangers now owe the Nippon Ham Fighters, brings the total deal to just over $111 million, or about $18.7 million [...]
Rangers GM Jon Daniels would love to have both Prince Fielder and Josh Hamilton on his team, but if he's forced to choose just one, he should choose the younger, more durable option.
The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms with Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish on a six-year contract.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, there wasn't a more feared pitcher in the game of baseball than Pedro Martinez. And he was still a hot commodity throughout the 2000s, pulling a Roger Clemens in 2009 and coming back late in the season to pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies on their way to the World Series.
Now Martinez is hoping to mentor soon-to-be 24-year-old Rangers pitcher...
It doesn't matter whether it's the amateur draft or the posting system. Give a team and a player's representation any amount of time and they're likely to use every single second to get a deal done.
Whether it's a day, a week, a month or a year, the allotted time is irrelevant. All that matters is that the two sides play a half-hearted game of chicken while making...
