Michael Young delivered a pair of two-run doubles in a nine-run third inning and later homered as the Texas Rangers advanced to the World Series for the second straight season by whipping the visiting Detroit Tigers 15-5 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Saturday.

Nelson Cruz belted his sixth homer of the series - a two-run shot in the seventh inning - to establish a postseason record for homers in a single round. Cruz also set a record with 13 RBIs and was named ALCS Most Valuable Player.
Texas, which had 17 hits, opens World Series play Wednesday on the road against either the St. Louis Cardinals or Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals hold a 3-2 advantage in the NLCS with Game 6 on Sunday.
