ARLINGTON, Texas Texas right-hander Alexi Ogando's scheduled start Monday is in jeopardy after a CT scan on his right shoulder relieves some inflammation around a nerve. Ogando is now taking medication for the inflammation and hasn't been ruled out for Monday, but it's certainly a possibility. "We haven't ruled him out but I think it's heading that way," general manager Jon Daniels said. "I think more than likely based on the information we have it's heading that way but he hasn't been ruled out." Daniels said the CT scans were also sent to Dr. James Andrews and the team is waiting to hear from him. He said the CT scans showed no structural problems. Ogando's shoulder has responded to the medication but Daniels also said he could get a cortisone injection, which would knock him out of his Monday start. If Ogando is unable to go, Texas manager Ron Washington said long man Ross Wolf and Triple A pitchers Josh Lindblom and Travis Blackley are options. Blackley, who was acquired from Houston Wednesday, threw 40 pitches for Round Rock Thursday night. Lindblom is scheduled to start Sunday. Daniels isn't thinking past Ogando's next scheduled start or a possible stint on the disabled list. Ogando has already been on the DL twice this year, including a six-week stint for right shoulder inflammation. Daniels said this injury is different because it's nerve related.

Right-hander Alexi Ogando likely will miss his next start for the Texas Rangers because of inflammation around a nerve in his right shoulder. General manager Jon Daniels said Friday that Ogando is on medication that has eased some of the symptoms. But the pitcher could also have an injection that would keep him from pitching Monday against Houston. Ogando had a CT scan on Wednesday...

The DL stint is retroactive to Aug. 14, the day after Ogando's last start. Left-hander Travis Blackley was selected...

Report: Manny Ramirez Not Retiring

Tuesday, the Texas Rangers released Manny Ramirez.  But don't shed one tear, America, this might not be the end for the twelve-time All-Star. According to Hector Cruz of ESPN Deportes, Ramirez will not retire and will, apparently, look to hook up with another big league team.  Sure, it's unlikely that he lands a job, but, hey...none of us thought the Rangers would take...

Rangers' Alexi Ogando has shoulder inflammation, could miss Monday start

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Alexi Ogando has had a tough time staying healthy this year. He has spent much of May, June, and July on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation, and it appears that the problem has not gone completely away. MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reported Friday night that Ogando has more inflammation in his right shoulder, this time on a nerve. It does...

Bottom of Rangers' lineup produces seven runs in rout

ARLINGTON, Texas It takes a village to beat a pitcher like Felix Hernandez. In baseball terms, that means contributions from up and down the lineup, which is exactly what the Rangers got in Saturday's 15-3 win against the Seattle ace. Specifically, the Rangers got a whopping five RBI from the number nine spot in the order shared by David Murphy and Craig Gentry. Add in...

Rangers' Elvis Andrus clears waivers; no indication he'll be traded

When the Rangers signed shortstop Elvis Andrus to an eight year, $118 million extension, they thought they were locking up a shortstop who could be among the games elite. However, that has not been the case this year, as he as not lived up to his pricey contract. The Texas Rangers, according to CBS Sports' Danny Knobler, have placed the 24-year old Andrus on waivers. Even...

MMO Mailbag: Rangers Shortstop Elvis Andrus Clears Waivers

Hey Joe, Just read today that Elvis Andrus had cleared waivers. As you posted yesterday and in the past, a glaring hole that needs to be filled going forward is a legitimate everyday shortstop. I believe you also mentioned his name along with Jurickson Profar as well. Just a couple of comments. If indeed he did clear waivers, the Mets should obviously explore what it would take...

Leaping Lepidopteras! Moth flies into A.J. Pierzynski’s mask (video)

During Wednesday evening’s tilt between the Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Rangers catcher had the unfortunate experience of a moth flying into his mask as he was seated behind the plate. Actually, bugs buzzing around ballplayers isn’t an uncommon occurrence, nor should it be surprising. Anyone who has been to […]The post Leaping Lepidopteras...

Mariners 3, Rangers 1

Mariners-Rangers Preview

Following his team's dreadful stretch at the plate in July, Adrian Beltre has been on a tear that's helped the Texas Rangers return to the top of the AL West. If Beltre can match his performance from the last time he faced Hisashi Iwakuma, the Rangers certainly stand a better chance of continuing their run Friday night against the visiting Seattle Mariners. After averaging...
