The Rays made a trade Saturday. They sent reliever Burke Badenhop to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Minor League outfielder Raul Mondesi Jr.
This season, Mondesi Jr. hit .231 with five home runs and 32 RBI in 68 games for the Helena Brewers, Milwaukee’s Minor League affiliate. He was signed by the Brewers in 2010 out of the Dominican Republic. He is 20 years old.
Badenhop finished the 2012 season with the Rays with an ERA of 3.03 in 66 appearances. He was acquired from the Marlins in 2011.
Mondesi Jr. is the son of former major leaguer Raul Mondesi who played 16 seasons with seven teams.
