Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Sam Fuld hit an unusual triple in the fourth inning of Sunday's game after it ricocheted off a Cleveland Indians ball boy in right field who couldn't get himself out of the way.
Fuld hit a fair ball up the right field line which likely would have been a double anyway. However, the ball bounced off the low wall in front of the stands and hit the Indians ball boy as he was trying to get out of the way. That ricochet sent the ball towards the right field corner, giving Fuld the extra time to get the extra base. Indians manager Terry Francona argued that Fuld should have only gotten a double due to the interference, but first base umpire Adrien Johnson didn't change his call, apparently not seeing the bad bounce off the ballboy.
Fuld scored as the next Rays batter hit an infield single, but given that the Rays won the game 11-3, it's hard to blame the Indians loss on this apparent bad call.
