Rays put RHP Davis on DL with forearm strain

The Tampa Bay Rays have put pitcher Wade Davis on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right forearm, a day after he struggled in his latest start. Right-handed reliever Brandon Gomes was recalled from Triple-A Durham and was expected to join the Rays for Thursday night's game in New York against the Yankees. Davis allowed four runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings Wednesday at Minnesota. The 25-year-old Davis is 7-6 with a 4.25 ERA. The 26-year-old Gomes pitched 10 games for Tampa Bay earlier this season and had a 3.09 ERA.
