Did perfect game cost Rays wild card race?

So much for all those waves the Tampa Bay Rays have been making in the AL Wild Card race lately. Wednesday afternoon in Seattle, it was more like a massive belly-flop. And in this case, the big splash at Safeco Field was made by brilliant Mariners' righthander Felix Hernandez, whose perfect game in a 1-0 victory suddenly leaves the Rays floundering again. And just when it...

Rays go for another key victory in Anaheim

The Tampa Bay Rays have been difficult to score on for most teams recently. The Los Angeles Angels have had trouble generating offense against the Rays all season. That doesn't bode well for Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson's chances of ending a nine-start winless drought. Wilson may not have much room for error against Tampa Bay's Alex Cobb, who looks to win his fourth...

Dr. Keenum Sees Expansion Benefits To State

Mark Keenum knew Davis Wade Stadium before it ever had a separate name. Or a lot of other things for that matter. “I can remember they didn’t have the fencing or hedges or anything around the stadium when I was a boy. Sitting on the west side, you could literally walk out on the field at the end of the game and stand on the sideline with the team. And I did that many, many times!”

Rays-Angels Preview

After his team was on the wrong end of a perfect game for the third time in four seasons, Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon is confidently looking ahead. A visit to Anaheim could help the Rays forget their latest dubious milestone. David Price can become the majors' first 16-game winner while trying to help the Rays avoid a third straight loss and continue their recent success against...

No-no for Felix

The Tampa Bay Rays were at the mercy of the King today, and what a day it was to be at Safeco Field. Everyone at the field, from players to fans, were in King’s court today. He was in perfect rhythm all day, and it showed in the box score.   Felix Hernandez threw the 23rd perfect game in MLB history (256th no-hitter). 1st season in MLB...
