Matt Moore is no joke.  Moore came in the hottest of all the Rays with a 4-0 record and a 1.35 ERA in his past month and he single handedly brought Tampa to within a half game of top of the AL East with a two hit shutout as the Rays beat the Red Sox with a 3-0 victory. Moore got his first career complete game shutout and his AL leading 14th win. For the Sox, Brandon Workman pitched his second straight quality outing, despite a shaky first inning. After throwing 33 pitches in the first and allowing three hits and a run, Workman fell into a groove, allowing just three more hits in the next five innings and never throwing more than 18 pitches in an inning. You could say Workman... was working. (YEAHHHHHH) Unfortunately yet again he was up against a pitcher that kept the Sox lineup at bay. David Ortiz & Mike Napoli were the only Sox players that got on base and Papi was the only one to get past first base by way of a wild pitch. This is the Sox worst offensive output since April 6th. Old friend James Loney was the real run driver for Tampa, as he got a sacrifice fly in the first and then got an RBI single in the fifth. Desmond Jennings tacked on another run in the ninth with a sac fly of his own as an extra kick to the gut. The Sox might get knocked off of first place with another loss tomorrow. Here's hoping they can figure out how to beat this Rays team. Box Score
