KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Ervin Santana pitched seven snappy innings and the Kansas City Royals finally backed him up with some offense in a 7-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday night. Santana (4-5) entered the game with the worst run support among qualifying pitchers in the American League, a big reason why he already had six fruitless tries to win his 100th career game. He finally reached the milestone thanks to a seemingly endless series of singles and doubles off Astros starter Erik Bedard (1-3), who failed to make it through the fifth inning. Meanwhile, Santana allowed five hits in seven innings, striking out six without a walk. The only damage he allowed came on an RBI single by Jose Altuve and a solo homer by Chris Carter. Lorenzo Cain had a pair of RBIs to lead the Royals.

Yordano Ventura Dominates in AAA Debut

by John Viril— Finally, something is going right for the Kansas City Royals. After a horrendous month of May which saw both the major league club and most top prospects fall flat on their collective faces, we have a bit of good news. Starting pitcher Yordano Ventura was just promoted to AAA and dominated in Omaha’s Thursday 2-1 victory over Oklahoma City. After giving up a walk...

When Dyson returns, will Lough or Francoeur be odd man out?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. At some point very soon, perhaps even today, the Royals are likely to activate outfielder Jarrod Dyson from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha. And that, of course, means the Royals will have to make a subsequent roster move to make space for Dyson, a speedy and valuable weapon in the Royals' offense. Perhaps the easy move would be to simply send outfielder...

Little Royals fan steps in front of woman to snag baseball (Video)

The woman was able to get the attention of someone on the field and get that person to throw her a baseball. Unfortunately...

David Lough stepping up in RF

by John Viril— A few weeks ago, I was screaming that Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore needed to bring in another outfielder to platoon with (or replace) Jeff Francoeur.  AAA callup David Lough‘s performance has made such a trade unnecessary. The team called up Lough after OF Jarrod Dyson injured his ankle attempting to pull back a home run against the Los Angeles...

Royals 4, Astros 2

Eric Hosmer wasn't sure whether he could score from first when Billy Butler roped a pitch down the third-base line, so he put his head down and sprinted as fast as he could. He slid home just ahead of the tag for the go-ahead run in the eighth inning Friday night. And after the Kansas City Royals held on for a 4-2 victory over the Houston Astros for their first three-game winning...
