The Red Sox swap places in the standings with the Blue Jays with the 7-4 victory in Toronto.

The Red Sox jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the second on a combination of a Middlebrooks single, Punto double, Nava single/ fielding gaff by Toronto center fielder Colby Rasmus that should have been an error. . Felix Doubront pitched fairly well (6.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 7 K, 2 HR), but kept it interesting. The Jays scored 1 run in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings. The Sox did get 1 in the 4th when Youk scored on a double play. The Sox grabbed an insurance run in the 8th, when Ortiz scored on a Sweeney ground out, giving the Sox a 6-3 lead. The Jays got another run in the 8th to make things a little more interesting. Nick Punto put a stop to the madness when he blew our minds with a deep home run in the top of the ninth that made it to the 2nd deck in left. His first home run in a Red Sox uniform was pretty damn impressive. Aceves closed out the ninth with a 1-2-3 save for his 14th of the season.

Back to Nick Punto. Including the solo homer, Nick went 3-for-4, with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Punto had 2 hits in the month of May, so today was a pretty good day for him.

Daniel Nava's single that should have been an error drove in 2 to make him the next most productive player to Lord Punto.

Both teams had a little bit of trouble in the field, with 2 errors committed by each team. The least pretty was the throwing error committed by Ryan Sweeney. Lawrie singled to right, as Encarnacion rounded second, Sweeney pump faked a throw and the actual throw went straight down to the Astroturf. By the time Sweeney retrieved the ball, Encarnacion scored from second. Sweeney has committed 2 errors in the last week, his first two in 2 seasons.

The bullpen pitched 2 2/3 of 2-hit ball, with the only run coming off of the Sweeney error. Oh, and, Nick Punto hit a home run. I smell World Series.
