Your Morning Dump...Where the prospects are taking over

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Numbers like 50, 55, 66 and 77. Spring training numbers in July. The kind of numbers that when in a starting lineup at this time of the year spell forced surrender when matched up with the one the New York...

Justin Germano's Exploits Alleviate The Bullpen's Burden For Rest of Series Against Yankees

BOSTON -- The doubleheader forced manager Bobby Valentine to gather depth. With a four-game series against the Yankees crammed into three days -- and the reputation for length between the rivals -- the Red Sox skipper needed an extra arm to bolster the bullpen. In Game One of the doubleheader, Justin Germano alleviated concerns. Stepping in for Franklin Morales in the fourth inning...

Jon Lester's Nine Strikeouts Make Him Amica Pitcher of the Week

The Red Sox' pitching staff was not at its best this week. No Red Sox starter earned a win, and the team was swept by the Oakland Athletics. After opening up the week Sunday with a victory over the Mariners, the Red Sox dropped three straight to the A's before coming home and losing Friday's contest to the rival New York Yankees. While no pitcher was particularly heroic...

Mark Teixeira Focuses Ire on Vicente Padilla in Night That Left Much to Be Desired for Red Sox Pitching

BOSTON -- At times, a couple of Boston's pitchers have had the Yankees' numbers. If it wasn't Josh Beckett going 4-0 against the Yankees with a 1.85 ERA in 2011, it was Vicente Padilla irritating Mark Teixeira by buzzing batters off the plate when they played for the Rangers. But on Friday night, both Teixeira and the Yankees had the last laugh. Teixeira plated the go...

Lester Struggles in Loss to Yankees

Lester did exacty what the other starters have done during the series with the Yankees, gave up runs in the first inning.  Lester did not have a great outing and the bats were not able to make up for it.  The Sox lost 3 out of 4 to the Yankees as they head into the All Star Break in hopes the rest does them good. Lester gave up 3 hits in a row to start the game including an RBI...
