The Guru Contributing Writer The Boston Red Sox are currently talking with second baseman Dustin Pedroia about a long-term contract extension that would keep Pedroia in Boston through at least the 2020 season. Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports that both sides are working towards getting the deal done this season. Passan says the "general framework of the contract could call for an annual salary in the $20 million range for a contract lasting five or six years". According to ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes, the Red Sox made Pedroia a formal offer during the All-Star break. Red Sox GM Ben Cherington said, "Speaking generally about Dustin, he's certainly a guy we think very highly of, and he's a huge part of the organization, not just this team. He represents a lot of what we're all about. It's our sincere hope he's here for a long time; that's all I can say."
