The Red Sox were due for a solid offensive night at Fenway Park. The team combined for 11 runs in a rout of the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night. The Sox tallied a season-high 20 hits to snap a two-game losing streak, with all nine starters recording hits in the game. The offense was backed up by the defense, though, with Ryan Dempster giving up just two runs in six innings to clinch his fifth win of the season. The Sox have a long homestand to continue showing Boston fans why they sit atop the AL East. To hear what Mike Napoli had to say about his team’s effort after the game, watch the video above.

Quality Control: Mr. Dependable, Ryan Dempster

Jan-Christian Sorensen Contributing Writer It’s been a feast-or-famine situation when Red Sox starter Ryan Dempster is looking for run support from his teammates this season. Last night, it was a feast of epic proportions. The Sox ripped a season-high 20 hits and scored 11 runs against the visiting Colorado Rockies to lift Dempster (5-8) to the win. Dempster, for his part,...

Mike Napoli shows some skin at the plate

Boston Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli is not the first MLB player to leave the top buttons on his jersey undone. Plenty of guys do it on warm days without caring if they look like slobs, but there is usually an undershirt involved. On Sunday, Napoli took that entirely out of the equation. As [...]

Red Sox-Rockies: Colorado Takes on Ryan Dempster in Rare Trip to Fenway

8 a.m. ET: For the first time since the 2007 World Series, the Colorado Rockies will take the field at Fenway Park on Tuesday. The Red Sox have met the Rockies just once since sweeping them to win their most recent championship — a three-game series at Coors Field in 2010 — and outside of two-time All-Star Troy Tulowitzki and longtime Minnesota Twin Michael Cuddyer, much of the...

'Rocky Mountain Fry'; Sox Pound Colorado, 11-4

(Jim Rogash/Getty Images)Ryan Dempster must be wondering why the Red Sox can't support him like this all the time. Boston pounded out a season-high twenty hits on the way to smiting the Rockies at Fenway, 11-4. Four different Red Sox players collected three hits (Dustin Pedroia, Daniel Nava, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jose Iglesias), while Pedroia knocked in four runs in the rout. Dempster...

Boston Red Sox behind strong pitching and timely hitting sweep Colorado Rockies

The Boston Red Sox rebounded nicely after the tough weekend series in Detroit as they returned home and swept the Colorado Rockies in a brief two game series. Both games saw the Red Sox get quality starting pitching from Ryan Dempster on Tuesday night and John Lackey on Wednesday afternoon. Dempster went six strong innings allowing just two runs and striking out four Rockies to...

Rockies-Red Sox Preview

Run support continues to come at a premium for Ryan Dempster, and it's not helping his record. He could especially use some offense from his Boston Red Sox teammates Tuesday night when they face the red-hot Michael Cuddyer and Colorado Rockies in the teams' first meeting at Fenway Park since Boston swept the 2007 World Series. Dempster (4-8, 4.23 ERA) has lost three of...

3 Stars of the Game: Game 79

Ryan MacLeod Contributing Writer It surprised me to look at the Red Sox record against the National League this season and see that the Rockies are only the second team from the NL that we have played. We currently have a record of 3-2 against the NL this year and last night was an exciting win for the Sox. They belted out 20 hits and plated 11 runs. Starting pitcher Ryan Dempster...

Game 79: Rockies at Red Sox - Reminiscing about '07, Sox-Rox Battle

Ben Whitehead Contributing Writer Welcome home, Red Sox. The American League-leading Boston Red Sox (45-33) return to Fenway Park for nine-game home-stand and get it kicked off with an interleague matchup against the Colorado Rockies (39-38). The Sox and Rox clash at Fenway for the first time since the 2007 World Series, when the Red Sox swept the first two games on their way to...

Buchholz Out, Dempster & Lackey Face Rockies

(AP Photo/Michael Dwyer)Clay Buchholz will miss yet another start (previously scheduled for Tuesday) with continued neck issues. In fact, Buchholz didn't even take part in a planned bullpen session in Detroit on Saturday. Ryan Dempster will start in his place on Tuesday, while John Lackey will pitch on Wednesday against the Rockies. The Red Sox have been all "National Security...

John Lackey & Ryan Dempster: The 2 most valuble pitchers so far

Photo Courtesy of NESN Not many people would have told you at the beginning of the season that our top 2 starters, Jon Lester and Clay Bucholzm would be going through serious issues in June. "They're both perfectly fine and pitching great," you might have said. Well, I would have said the same thing, but I couldn't forsee Clay Bucholz's imjury problems...

Boston Red Sox return home looking to get back on track vs. Rockies

Despite dropping three out of four games in Detroit over the weekend, the Red Sox begin their eight game homestand in first place by two and half games and welcome the surprising Colorado Rockies to Fenway Park for a brief two game series. This series will mark the first both teams have faced each other in Boston since Game 1 and 2 of the 2007 World Series, in which the Red Sox won...

Red Sox 11, Rockies 4

Dustin Pedroia drove in four runs and had three of Boston's season-high 20 hits, and Ryan Dempster took advantage of an early cushion that kept getting bigger for the Red Sox in their 11-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night. Mike Napoli added two RBIs and Jacoby Ellsbury, Daniel Nava and Jose Iglesias joined Pedroia with three hits apiece as the Red Sox gave...

Mike Napoli Gets Night Off as Jon Lester, Red Sox Host Jose Reyes, Blue Jays

After John Lackey struck out 12 to complete the two-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies, Jon Lester faces the Blue Jays in hopes the momentum will lift him up, as well. While Ryan Dempster and Lackey put together solid performances against the Rockies, the Boston bats heated up, too. Wednesday night’s win makes for the fifth straight game the Sox have put up 10 or more hits. Shane...
