Via MLBTradeRumors comes a nugget from Buster Olney that the Sox have placed the national treasure Daisuke Matsuzaka on waivers.
Dice pitched well yesterday and has $2 million remaining on his oversized deal. Could he be an option for a team looking for pitching for five weeks?
You never know. Especially if that team has thrown all financial caution to the wind...a team such as, oh, I don't know, the Dodgers, who are reportedly looking for more pitching despite having traded for Josh Beckett and Joe Blanton already this month.
That was just speculation, but the way the Dodgers have been throwing around money, it wouldn't surprise me. I don't even care what we would get back -- unloading Daisuke and giving his starts to somebody looking for an opportunity, like Franklin Morales or one of the September call-ups -- is a no-brainer.
