Cincinnati may have just completed their off-season to-do list with the signing of free agent OF Ryan Ludwick late Monday night. The contract is rumored to be a one-year deal, which includes a mutual option for 2013, tweets FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. Ludwick will reportedly receive $2.5 MM guaranteed with up to an additional $500k in incentives.
The 33-year old outfielder gives the Reds some much-needed depth in the two corner outfield spots, although he is likely to see most of his action if left in a platoon role with Chris Heisey.
Ludwick posted a combined .237/.310/.363 line with 13 longballs and 75 RBIs with the Pirates and Padres in 2011. His best major league season came in 2008 when the right-hander recorded a .299 average, a .966 OPS, 37 homers, 113 RBIs and 40 doubles for the Cardinals.
He'll make considerably less in 2012 than the $6.78MM San Diego paid him in salary last year.
With the acquisition of Ludwick, the Redlegs have all but filled their mai...

Ryan Ludwick Will Continue His NL Central Tour Of Duty With The Cincinnati Reds
A minor domino fell tonight, as free agent outfielder Ryan Ludwick signed with the Cincinnati Reds for one year, $2.5 million. He can reach up to $3 million with incentives, and the deal has an option for 2013. The Reds are the third NL Central team Ludwick has played for, following the St Louis Cardinals (where he had his best years) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (where he spent two...
Reds Add Ludwick, Much Needed Outfield Depth
The Reds have made it very clear that they’re going all-in this offseason, presumably in an effort to maximize their chances of winning a title before Joey Votto qualifies for free agency after the 2013 season. GM Walt Jocketty opened up the prospect vault to acquire Mat Latos and Sean Marshall, then landed what could potentially be the bargain of the offseason by signing Ryan...
Ludwick to the Reds
The Reds signed Ryan Ludwick to a one-year contract, and Redleg Nation is not impressed:
File this under “It could be worse”: Best thing about Ryan Ludwick is that he doesn’t spell his name “J-u-a-n P-i-e-r-r-e” or “R-i-c-k A-n-k-i-e-l.”
Ryan Ludwick’s career certainly seems to be fading as he ages into his early 30s. Teams may remember his outstanding 2008...

Good old Uncle Walt really is gearing up for 2013. The guy hit 37 long ones four years ago as a 29 year old. Is 25-30 in Great American too much to ask?
Todd Frazier Replaced with Less Versatile Version of Todd Frazier
Ryan Ludwick is the newest member of the Reds and I have some seriously mixed feelings about it.
On the one hand, the Reds needed outfield depth. On the other hand, this negatively affects the construction of the bench.
As I read the tea leaves, the following players are locks to make the team: Hanigan, Cairo, Francisco, Ludwick, and Janish (until they sign another SS). That’...
