The Cincinnati Reds left right-handed reliever Logan Ondrusek off the roster for their division series matchup against the San Francisco Giants.
The Reds announced their roster before Game 1 on Saturday. They are carrying 11 pitchers for the series, with fifth starter Mike Leake and Ondrusek being held out.
Ondrusek had the fourth most appearances on the Reds this season with 63 but struggled late in the year. He had a 4.76 ERA with eight walks and three homers allowed in 11 1-3 innings since Aug. 18.
Cincinnati also is going with just Ryan Hanigan and Dioner Navarro at catcher, leaving Devin Mesoraco off the roster.

After initially announcing that the playoff roster would be set on Friday, the Cincinnati Reds changed their mind and didn’t announce it until a few hours before tonight’s game.
The players who didn’t make it aren’t a surprise. Devin Mesoraco, Mike Leake, and Logan Ondrusek were all left off.
The Reds and Giants will lock horns for Game Two of the NLDS beginning tonight at 9:37 EST.
Here are five quick storylines about the pivotal game:
1) Which Bronson Arroyo will we see on Sunday? Although the 35-year old has experienced a bounceback season this year (12-10, 3.74 ERA, 3.69 K/BB), he's still vulnerable to a terrible outing from time to time. There has...
The road to the World Series starts tonight for the Reds as they take on the Giants in San Francisco in game one of the National League Division Series. The game starts at 9:37pm EST and features both teams' aces matching up against each other on the mound in Johnny Cueto and Matt Cain. Obviously the Reds will have to get past the Giants in order to win the World Series,...
The Redlegs hope to take a 2-0 series lead back to Cincinnati by securing another victory tonight. Here's the lineup with which Dusty Baker is sending out there in an effort to do so:
2B Brandon Phillips
SS Zack Cozart
1B Joey Votto
LF Ryan Ludwick
RF Jay Bruce
3B Scott Rolen
C Ryan Hanigan
CF Drew Stubbs
SP Bronson Arroyo
Bronson Arroyo was nothing but spot on and stellar in tonight’s NLDS game against the San Francisco Giants. The Cincinnati Reds scored nine runs to cruise to the victory taking Game 2 of the five game series.
Arroyo pitched 7 innings allowing just a single to Brandon Belt. JJ Hoover pitched the eighth while Jose Arredondo came in to pitch the ninth with the Reds comfortably in...
Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto, who had to leave Saturday's start in San Francisco in the first inning because of back spasms, returned to Cincinnati on Sunday to get further treatment. "I saw him before he went back. He said he felt a lot better this morning," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty told MLB.com. "He's going back to get treatment back there rather...

Someone pinch me, I’m dreaming.
Did my team really just beat Matt Cain on the road out west after losing Johnny Cueto (the ace of the staff) after he recorded just one out? I have to be dreaming. This has happened to me a million times. I wake up, and it all goes away. After...
Today marks the beginning of the State of the Farm series for 2012. Each Monday I will look at one position and the state of it throughout the farm system. I will go in order of positions, starting with catcher and working around the diamond until we get to the pitchers where I will look at both starting pitching and relief pitching.
The position that was arguably the Reds strongest...
You have to give credit to Dusty Baker and the Reds for not panicking when Johnny Cueto came up lame. The way the situation was handled, and the way the pitching staff performed was a real credit to the Reds. The Giants, meanwhile, sure put themselves in a hole when their most reliable ace could not hold the Reds down in his own ballpark. For them, it won't get any easier from...
Eventually, you’re all going to get sick of me talking about how everything that’s going on now is for all intents and purposes unpredictable. Hopefully you aren’t sick of it yet, because Game 1 of the NLDS between the Reds and the Giants went to show why playoff predictions are a complete waste of time. Allow me to review the action:(1)Ace Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto had...
The Cincinnati Reds were dealt a tough blow to start their playoff run last night. After recording one out, Johnny Cueto had to be removed from the game after experiencing back spasms. After throwing two pitches to the second batter of the game, Marco Scutaro, Dusty Baker and the Reds' trainer jogged out to the mound to check on Cueto. After a few moments, he was lifted...
This is absolutely not the news that the Cincinnati Reds wanted. Ace Johnny Cueto left game one of the Reds NLDS matchup with the Giants in the first inning after just eight pitches with back spasms.
Cueto was immediately replaced in the game by Sam LeCure, and LeCure was replaced after the second inning by Mat Latos, who is scheduled to start game three of the series for the...
With all of the weirdness and excitement that's surrounded the end of the regular season and the new wild card play-in game, seeing the Reds and Giants play in the National League Division Series is something that would've surprised pretty much no baseball fan anywhere back in March. That being said, this matchup isn't quite what we all might've suspected in March...
What's the worst possible thing that can happen after your team loses a playoff team when your opponent's ace exits the game after just eight pitches? Well, you go out the next night and shut out, picking up just two hits. That's what happened on Sunday, as the Reds smashed the Giants 9-0 to take a 2-0 lead in their series.
A night after six Reds pitchers held the Giants...
